Guidewire CCM integration: which platforms connect, and what to test
A Guidewire CCM integration lets PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and BillingCenter request documents from your CCM platform and file the sent copy back against the policy or claim. Among the alternatives, Quadient Inspire and OpenText Exstream have the longest record of Guidewire-validated accelerators, and GhostDraft announced integrations built by Guidewire for Guidewire Cloud in October 2024.
Running Guidewire InsuranceSuite? Then your Guidewire CCM integration decides how fast policy packs, claims letters and billing notices go out, and how painful every upgrade is.
Plenty of CCM vendors say they “work with Guidewire”. Far fewer have public proof for each center, on Guidewire Cloud, from a source other than their own website. This page shows who does, how the integration works, and what to test before you sign. For the wider vendor list, see our CCM software guide.
Pick by your situation
Short on time? Start here.
- Want a top-rated CCM suite with a long Guidewire record? Look at Quadient Inspire.
- Big renewal and billing batches out of PolicyCenter and BillingCenter? Look at OpenText Exstream.
- On Guidewire Cloud and want Guidewire to maintain the connector? Look at GhostDraft.
- Leaving SmartCOMM? Read what changes on Guidewire when you switch.
Who has documented Guidewire integrations
Read across a row to see what’s on public record for each center, and how old it is. A dashed cell means only the vendor or its marketplace listing says so, so make it an RFP question.
Dates are when the integration was announced or validated. SmartCOMM shown for reference. As of October 17, 2026.

Two things jump out. Quadient’s and OpenText’s public Guidewire records are old, so ask both for what runs today. And the newest CCM proof, from 2024, is for integrations Guidewire builds itself.
Three kinds of Guidewire integration
Who built the connector matters more than the logo on the slide. It decides who fixes it when Guidewire ships a new release.
| Type | Who builds and maintains it | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Built by Guidewire | Guidewire, to its own cloud standards | Fewest surprises on Guidewire Cloud upgrades. Confirm which CCM features it exposes. |
| Ready for Guidewire accelerator | The CCM vendor, reviewed by Guidewire | A tested starting point. Ask which InsuranceSuite release it was last validated on. |
| Marketplace listing or custom build | The vendor or your integrator | Treat it as a claim until you see it running on your release. |
HP’s 2015 accelerators were free downloads from Guidewire’s resource portal, built for InsuranceSuite as it ran then. If you’re moving to Guidewire Cloud, check that a cloud version exists before you count it.
How a Guidewire document request works
Every integration follows roughly the same round trip. Guidewire describes its cloud integrations as running through its Integration Framework, which connects InsuranceSuite to other apps through APIs and messaging.
The steps most Guidewire and CCM integrations share, with what to prove at each one in a proof of concept.
- InsuranceSuite An event asks for a document
A bind, endorsement or renewal in PolicyCenter, a claim decision in ClaimCenter, or an invoice in BillingCenter. Adjusters can also start a letter by hand.
TestList every event that should create a document and fire each one in the test environment.
- Integration Policy or claim data goes to the CCM platform
The request carries the data the template needs, usually over an API call or a message queue.
TestSend your real product model, including your custom fields, not the vendor’s demo data.
- CCM platform The right template version is composed
Rules pick the template by state, line of business and effective date, then compose the document.
TestIssue a mid-term endorsement and check it uses the form version filed for that date.
- Inside Guidewire Users edit and approve, within limits
Interactive letters open in the Guidewire screen. Users edit allowed sections; regulated wording stays locked.
TestTry to change locked coverage wording as an adjuster, and route an edited letter for approval.
- Delivery The document goes out and a copy comes back
Output goes to print, email or portal. The sent copy is stored against the policy or claim.
TestOpen the claim file and find the exact copy the customer received.
- Upgrades Guidewire releases a new version
Each new InsuranceSuite release can change what the connector has to handle.
TestAsk who updates the connector, how fast after a Guidewire release, and at whose cost.
Integration Framework and in-Guidewire editing, tracked changes and permissions: Guidewire and partner press releases (2024). Locked regulatory wording in the editor: HP press release (2015).
If a vendor can only demo steps 1 and 3, you’re looking at a batch feed, not an integration. Step 4 is where claims teams feel the difference.
The best CCM platforms for Guidewire carriers
These are the alternatives with Guidewire integrations on public record from outside their own websites. Ratings aren’t Guidewire-specific; every number is in our CCM benchmark.
Best for carriers who want a top-rated CCM suite with a long Guidewire record
- 4.8 ★130 Gartner ratings
- PremierGuidewire partner tier, 2020
- 2015first Guidewire-validated accelerator
Quadient’s Guidewire history starts with GMC Software, which became part of Quadient in 2017. GMC’s Inspire accelerator for ClaimCenter passed Guidewire’s validation in 2015, with PolicyCenter and BillingCenter accelerators in development.
In 2020 Guidewire moved Quadient up to its Premier partner tier, citing its InsuranceSuite integrations for Inspire. Quadient has offered Inspire both as SaaS (Evolve) and for on-premises or hybrid use (Flex), which helps if not everything is on Guidewire Cloud yet.
Watch out: the newest public Guidewire evidence is from 2020, so ask which centers run on Guidewire Cloud today.
Best for big renewal and billing runs out of PolicyCenter and BillingCenter
- 4.4 ★76 Gartner ratings
- 3 of 3centers with validated accelerators, 2015
- 30+Guidewire customers HP cited, 2015
Exstream had accelerators for ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter and BillingCenter back in 2014, when HP owned it. In 2015 they earned the Ready for Guidewire designation, with an editor that let agents and adjusters personalize letters while regulatory wording stayed locked.
OpenText bought Exstream from HP in 2016. TrustRadius reviewers praise its throughput and fast batch processing, which is what renewal season needs.
Watch out: OpenText’s October 2025 Guidewire launch was for content management, not Exstream. Ask for the current Exstream accelerator release.
GhostDraft
Best for Guidewire Cloud carriers who want an insurance-focused CCM platform
- Oct 2024Built by Guidewire integrations
- 3 of 3centers on Guidewire Cloud
Guidewire and GhostDraft announced integrations for PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and BillingCenter on Guidewire Cloud in October 2024. Guidewire builds and standardizes them, so upgrades are its problem as much as yours.
The integrations connect to GhostDraft 360, which the announcement describes as a cloud-native platform for creating, managing and delivering insurance documents. Business users create print and digital communications from inside Guidewire.
Watch out: it isn’t in our benchmark, so ask for two carriers on your Guidewire release to call.
Messagepoint or Precisely on your list for other reasons? Neither has a Guidewire integration announced in trade press or on a newswire. Ask each for a live demo on your release before you score them.
Leaving SmartCOMM on Guidewire
SmartCOMM’s Guidewire integration is one of its strengths. Guidewire built and maintains it for ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter and BillingCenter on Guidewire Cloud, and Guidewire said in 2024 that the two companies share more than 120 insurance customers.
So when you switch, you’re replacing a connector Guidewire maintains, not just a template library. Plan for that.
- Inventory every document request from each center, including letters adjusters start by hand.
- Decide who will own the new connector: Guidewire (GhostDraft), or the vendor’s accelerator (Quadient, OpenText). Get the upgrade commitment in writing.
- Rebuild the in-Guidewire editing experience, with the same locked sections and approvals, before go-live.
- Run old and new side by side on one line of business before you switch the rest.
Compare all your options in SmartCOMM alternatives, and plan the move with our guide to migrating off SmartCOMM.
What to put in your RFP
These lines come straight from the round trip above. Add them to our CCM RFP template.
- Named connectors for each Guidewire center you run, with the InsuranceSuite release each was last validated on.
- Who built it and who maintains it, and how soon after a Guidewire release it’s updated.
- Guidewire Cloud support, if you’re there or moving there.
- Editing inside the Guidewire screen, with locked wording, tracked changes and approvals.
- Template versions tied to effective dates and state filings. Our CCM software for insurance page explains why.
- The sent copy stored against the policy or claim.
- Two references on your Guidewire release you can call without the vendor on the line.
Then score the answers with our CCM vendor scorecard.

Frequently asked questions
Which CCM platforms integrate with Guidewire?
On public record: Quadient Inspire (Guidewire-validated ClaimCenter accelerator in 2015, Premier partner tier in 2020), OpenText Exstream (validated accelerators for all three centers in 2015, under former owner HP), GhostDraft (built by Guidewire for Guidewire Cloud, 2024) and Smart Communications (built by Guidewire, 2024). Other vendors list accelerators on the Guidewire Marketplace, which is seller-written, so ask for a demo on your release.
What does “Built by Guidewire” mean?
Guidewire builds and standardizes the integration itself to speed delivery and maintenance on Guidewire Cloud. A Ready for Guidewire accelerator is built by the CCM vendor and reviewed by Guidewire against its design and quality criteria.
Does Quadient Inspire integrate with Guidewire?
Yes. GMC Software, now part of Quadient, validated an Inspire accelerator for ClaimCenter in 2015, and Guidewire promoted Quadient to its Premier partner tier in 2020, citing InsuranceSuite integrations for Inspire. Ask Quadient which centers its accelerators support on Guidewire Cloud today.
Does OpenText Exstream integrate with Guidewire?
Exstream accelerators for ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter and BillingCenter earned the Ready for Guidewire designation in 2015, when HP owned the product. OpenText bought Exstream in 2016. Its October 2025 Guidewire launch covered content management, so ask for the current Exstream accelerator release separately.
What is the best SmartCOMM alternative for Guidewire carriers?
Start with Quadient Inspire if you want a broad, highly rated CCM suite with a long Guidewire record. Add OpenText Exstream for heavy renewal and billing batches, or GhostDraft if you want an insurance-focused platform whose Guidewire Cloud integrations Guidewire builds.
