Facets document generation: connecting CCM to Facets, QNXT and HealthRules

Short answer

Facets document generation usually means pairing TriZetto Facets, QNXT or HealthEdge’s HealthRules with a CCM platform that turns claims, membership and benefit data into EOBs, letters and ID cards. None of the big CCM vendors has a Facets, QNXT or HealthRules connector announced in a press release or trade press, so pick on payer track record and prove the data feeds in a pilot. Doxim (with NASCO) and MPX (with VBA) have the clearest payer core admin partnerships on public record.

Running a health plan on TriZetto Facets, QNXT or HealthEdge? Then Facets document generation, or its QNXT and HealthRules equivalent, is really a data question. Your core admin system knows who’s covered, what was paid and why a claim was denied. A customer communications management (CCM) platform turns that into EOBs, letters and ID cards members can read.

This guide covers who owns each core admin system now, which CCM providers have public proof of working with one, the feeds each document needs, and what to test. For CMS deadlines see CCM for healthcare payers. For the full vendor list, see our CCM software guide.

Know your core admin system first

Ownership and product names have moved in the last two years. Check what your contract and API documents call things before you write the RFP.

The KLAS comments are worth reading before you budget. In comments from late 2025 and 2026, some Facets and QNXT customers told KLAS that integration is expensive and that they want more modern APIs. HealthRules customers were more positive about APIs, but one noted that pharmacy is adjudicated outside the system and another that billing runs elsewhere.

That matters for letters. Some of your documents will need data from systems other than core admin.

Which feeds each member document needs

Your core admin system is the main source, not the only one. Tick the documents you send; the list underneath ranks the feeds by how many of them depend on each one, so you know what to build first.

Which source system feeds each payer document

A dot means the document needs data from that feed. Which system owns each feed varies by plan, so relabel the columns for yours.

Prior authorization notices are the newest pressure point. Since January 1, 2026, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, CHIP and federal exchange plans must give a specific reason when they deny a prior authorization for items and services (drugs are excluded), and most must decide within 72 hours for urgent requests and 7 calendar days for standard ones. The reason has to arrive at your CCM platform as data, not as free text someone types in.

Who has public proof of working with payer core admin

This is the gap nobody advertises. Read across a row to see what’s on record outside each vendor’s own website.

The first three columns are empty for a reason. No CCM vendor, SmartCOMM included, has a Facets, QNXT or HealthRules integration announced on a newswire or in trade press. So whichever platform you pick, the core admin link is a project you’ll design, and a vendor’s “we integrate with Facets” slide is a demo request, not proof.

How core admin systems hand data to a CCM platform

There are two common patterns. Most plans run both, and each document should be assigned to one.

  • Batch extracts. The core admin system writes a nightly or cycle file, and the CCM platform composes everything in it. Good for EOBs, ID cards and premium notices. Test the file layout, restart after a failed run, and how a late adjudication gets into tomorrow’s batch.
  • Real-time requests. An event, such as a denial or an enrollment change, calls the CCM platform through an API or a message queue. Good for single letters a service rep or appeals analyst needs now. Test response time, retries and what happens when the CCM platform is down.

Either way, the sent copy has to come back. Store it, with its send date, against the member and claim, so your service team and appeals staff can see exactly what went out.

The pattern is similar to how P&C carriers connect CCM to their core systems. Our Guidewire CCM integration guide walks through a full round trip if you want a model.

The best CCM platforms for plans on Facets, QNXT or HealthRules

None of these has a public core admin connector, so the picks rest on payer track record and review scores. Ratings aren’t payer-specific; every number is in our CCM benchmark.

Quadient Inspire

Best for large plans consolidating many letter systems into one hub

  • 4.8 ★130 Gartner ratings, Oct 2026
  • LeaderQKS SPARK Matrix 2026
  • 2top-five US healthcare organizations signed, 2024

Quadient has the most payer deals on public record among these picks. In 2024 Quadient said it had signed two of the top five national healthcare organizations, pitching Inspire as a way to consolidate a mix of third-party and in-house systems. In a 2023 press release, Quadient said PacificSource, with more than 600,000 members, moved its member materials to Inspire and cut plan content blocks by 60%.

Watch out: no Quadient release names the plan’s core admin system, so ask for a reference on yours.

SmartCOMM vs Quadient Inspire →

Messagepoint

Best for Medicare Advantage plans that want annual documents built from plan benefit data

  • 4.4 ★69 Gartner ratings, Oct 2026
  • LeaderIDC MarketScape 2026

Messagepoint says its Healthcare Touchpoint Exchange builds the ANOC, EOC and Summary of Benefits from the same plan benefit data you file with CMS. That takes one big annual job off your core admin extracts. Ask how it takes claims and membership feeds for the rest.

Watch out: its payer product is built around plan benefit data, so test EOBs and claim letters from your core admin feeds separately.

SmartCOMM vs Messagepoint →

Doxim

Best for NASCO plans, or plans that want CCM software and managed print and mail together

  • Major PlayerIDC MarketScape 2026
  • Sept 2026NASCO partnership

Doxim is the only one of these picks with an announced partnership with a payer administration provider. NASCO and Doxim said in September 2026 that they’ll offer EOBs, Evidence of Coverage, benefit summaries, enrollment materials and ID cards, alongside a plan’s existing systems.

Watch out: it isn’t rated on review sites in our benchmark, so ask for two payer references on your core admin system.

CCM software guide →

Running VBASoftware, often at a TPA? VBA and MPX said in 2023 that their integration feeds enrollment, claims and authorization data straight into MPX’s communications, with no file feeds to manage. It isn’t in our benchmark, so check references.

Running SmartCOMM on your core admin system today?

Smart Communications sells SmartCOMM to health plans, and Cinven agreed to buy a majority stake in the company in August 2025. Your renewal is when you set the terms for leaving, whether or not you use them.

  1. Find your notice date in the order form and plan back from it. Our SmartCOMM contract renewal plan has the dated steps.
  2. Document the core admin link. List every extract, API call and queue between Facets, QNXT or HealthRules and SmartCOMM, who built it and who owns the code.
  3. Get export rights in writing for templates, shared content, data mappings and the archive of sent letters with send dates.
  4. Ask for transition access after notice, long enough to run old and new side by side through one EOB cycle and one annual enrollment period.
  5. Price a short extension sized to a migration, not a multi-year term.

Then compare options in SmartCOMM alternatives and plan the move with our guide to migrating off SmartCOMM.

What to put in your RFP

These lines come from the feed map and evidence grid above. Add them to our CCM RFP template.

  1. Your core admin system and version named in the RFP, with a request for a reference plan on the same system.
  2. A feed list per document: claims, membership, benefits, pharmacy, UM, billing, provider and appeals, with the owning system for each.
  3. Batch and real-time patterns, with restart, retry and error reporting for both.
  4. Denial reasons passed in as data for claim and prior authorization notices.
  5. The sent copy filed back against member and claim, searchable by service and appeals staff.
  6. Accessible output and languages from the same templates. Our accessible communications guide explains the standards.
  7. Who maintains the integration after a core admin upgrade, and at whose cost.

Score the answers with our CCM vendor scorecard. Planning enrollment letters and ID cards in detail? See health plan member onboarding software. On the provider side, see patient statement software.

Frequently asked questions

Does TriZetto Facets generate member letters on its own?

Facets holds the claims, membership and benefit data and the events that trigger letters. Cognizant’s public Facets material focuses on APIs and data publishing for connecting other systems, so ask Cognizant which correspondence features your license includes and plan for a CCM platform to handle composition, languages, accessible formats and print files.

Which CCM platforms integrate with Facets or QNXT?

As of October 2026, no major CCM vendor has a Facets or QNXT integration announced in a press release or trade press. Treat any connector claim as a demo item, and ask for a reference plan running your core admin system and release.

Who owns HealthEdge now?

Bain Capital. It agreed to buy HealthEdge from funds managed by Blackstone in April 2025, then merged it with UST HealthProof in September 2025. The combined company kept the HealthEdge name.

What is HealthRules Edge?

It’s the new name for HealthRules Payer, HealthEdge’s core administrative processing system, announced in October 2026 alongside a rebrand of its wider product line. Check whether your contract, API documentation and partner integrations refer to the old name.

What is the best SmartCOMM alternative for a plan on Facets or HealthRules?

Start with Quadient Inspire if you want the broadest payer record and top review scores, or Messagepoint for Medicare Advantage documents built from plan benefit data. Neither has a public core admin connector, so prove the feeds in a pilot either way.
